Job summary

Leidos LLC is seeking a Lead Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to own complex P&C designs across 12–500 kV systems. You will apply advanced digital logic and AC/DC expertise to engineer solutions protecting the grid and enabling renewable integration.

The role offers a hybrid work schedule with travel (10–20%) to sites, in‑office collaboration in Atlanta area, and ongoing professional development. Strong leadership and client communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 8+ years in substation protection and control design.
• Ability to lead and execute substation protection and control projects.
• Clear communication with internal teams and clients to support project needs.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and client locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the delivery of substation protection and control design projects, ensuring technical excellence and on-time performance.
• Create relay one-line diagrams defining protection zones and topology.
• Develop detailed AC schematics showing current, voltage, and protection device relationships.
• Produce DC control and protection schematics for safe operation of substations.
• Design control panels, wiring diagrams, and layouts for efficient construction and maintainability.
• Build accurate BOMs aligned with project criteria and client requirements.
• Perform QC checks on wiring and schematic designs for safety and constructability.
• Provide guidance during installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Apply National Electrical Safety Code requirements to ensure compliant designs.
