Job summary

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. The Senior Commissioning Engineer will lead and support testing, commissioning, and energization activities for HV substations, BESS, and PV facilities, with ~20–30% travel and full remote work option.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in testing, commissioning of HV substations and BESS/PV facilities.
• 5+ years leading commissioning on complex utility-scale projects.
• 2+ years supervisory experience.
• PE license or ability to obtain.
• Experience with protection coordination and harmonic analysis.

Responsibilities

• Attend Owner, Utility, and stakeholder meetings as requested by the Commissioning Manager.
• Develop Testing & Commissioning (T&C) Plans aligned with project specifications, utility interconnection requirements, and industry standards.
• Develop, review, and execute detailed Initial Energization Procedures for HV substations, BESS, and PV systems.
• Serve as the engineering authority for complex commissioning issues.
• Review protection and control philosophies, relay settings, and commissioning strategies.
• Lead and support initial substation energization activities and field coordination.
