Job summary

Continuum Associates, LLC is seeking a power systems engineer to join our remote team. You will analyze bulk transmission, renewable integration, and grid economics while documenting results and presenting findings to clients.

Proficiency in PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS/E, or Simulink is required, with strong Python or data-analysis skills. The role supports multi-disciplinary projects across North America; travel is anticipated less than 20%.

Qualifications

• MS or Ph.D. in Electric Power Systems or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university in the US or Canada preferred; a BS with commensurate power system study experience will also be considered.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in a US state, or P.Eng in Canada, or ability to obtain licensure preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in North American energy market analysis or related US/Canada power sector experience required for Power Systems Engineering; 6+ years for Senior Engineering role.
• Project management experience with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work legally in the United States or Canada; visa sponsorship considered case-by-case.

Responsibilities

• Perform data analysis related to bulk transmission, distributed generation, and power quality studies.
• Write engineering reports documenting study results with objective and concise writing and presentation.
• Support studies in transmission and distribution planning, renewable grid integration, power system economics, and reliability assessment.
• Utilize power system simulation tools (PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS/E, Simulink for Power Systems, TARA); proficiency in at least one package required.
• Program in Python or other major languages and use data tools such as Excel or R.
• Understand NERC Reliability Standards and North American ISO/RTO interconnection and planning procedures.
