Job summary

Unite Us is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to provide senior technical leadership for our Platform Services team, owning core APIs and interoperability solutions across the Unite Us product suite.

This senior individual-contributor role emphasizes architectural guidance, mentoring, and hands-on delivery, including contributing production code and shaping technical roadmaps with the Senior Engineering Manager. Remote in the U.S. with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 7-8+ years of software engineering with increasing ownership.
• Experience leading design and delivery of complex, cross-team initiatives.
• Deep understanding of large-scale distributed backend systems and APIs.
• Mentoring engineers and raising technical bar without formal management.
• Ability to make and communicate significant architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve Platform Services core APIs and interoperability solutions.
• Lead design and delivery of cross-cutting technical initiatives (FHIR, authentication frameworks, OAuth/SAML).
• Set technical standards; review designs and code for quality and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers, provide technical coaching and trade-off analysis.
• Translate team goals into a concrete technical roadmap with the Senior Engineering Manager.
• Represent Platform Services in cross-team discussions and drive integration points.
• Break down large problems into well-scoped plans for the team.
• Contribute production code for high-leverage areas.
• Foster a collaborative, solution-focused team culture.
