Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Lead Performance Test Engineer to lead performance engineering for enterprise and cloud-native apps. You will design and execute comprehensive performance strategies, build automated frameworks, and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines.

You will work remotely from the United States, collaborating with development, platform, DevOps, and SRE teams to set standards, identify bottlenecks, and optimize scalability and resiliency across systems.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of hands‑on experience in performance testing or non‑functional testing for enterprise apps.
• Hands‑on expertise with NeoLoad or comparable enterprise performance testing tool, including design, modeling, execution and reporting.
• Experience integrating automated performance tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD or similar platforms.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services and cloud‑native architectures (EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch).
• Programming/scripting in Python, Java, SQL, shell; testing REST APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience diagnosing performance issues across app, DB, infra, network, and cloud using observability tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic Stack).
• Experience with containers/orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, ECS, or EKS.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management; willingness to support production testing off-hours if needed.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute performance, load, stress, endurance, scalability and capacity tests for enterprise apps and cloud services.
• Build and maintain automated performance testing frameworks with NeoLoad and custom solutions.
• Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines with automated thresholds and gates.
• Analyze performance across application, database, infrastructure, network and cloud layers to identify bottlenecks and optimize.
• Use observability tools to troubleshoot complex performance issues and guide optimization efforts.
• Plan chaos engineering and resiliency testing to validate fault tolerance and recovery capabilities.
• Develop automation utilities in Python/Java/SQL to boost testing efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define KPIs, standards, capacity needs and improvement plans.
