Job summary

FHI 360 is seeking a STRIDES Laboratory and Diagnostics Advisor to provide technical leadership for outbreak response and preparedness laboratory systems.

You will guide diagnostic network strengthening, biosafety, quality systems, and workforce development across countries, ensuring alignment with national policies and international standards. Remote work options available in the U.S. market.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or international equivalent in Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Clinical Diagnostics, Public Health or related field.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in implementing large-scale laboratory systems, networks, and diagnostics programs.
• Experience in emergency outbreak response and mentoring junior staff.
• Proven track record designing and strengthening laboratory quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of laboratory and diagnostics components of STRIDES projects, ensuring alignment with international standards.
• Oversee deployment of diagnostic platforms, specimen referral optimization, and laboratory readiness activities.
• Ensure quality management, biosafety, and biosecurity measures meet client and funder requirements.
• Coordinate with ministries of health and partners to strengthen national laboratory systems.
