Job summary

Commence is seeking a Sr. Coding Implementation Engineer to lead data discovery, mapping, and deployment of our medical coding platform.

You will act as the primary technical owner for complex implementations, collaborating with customer IT, revenue cycle teams, and engineering to ensure accurate coding and production readiness. Demonstrated pattern recognition and strong SQL/AWS skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate credibly with clinical, IT, and executive stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 6+ years implementing healthcare software at provider organizations with end-to-end ownership
• Substantive medical coding knowledge: CPT, ICD-10-CM/PCS, NCCI edits
• Advanced SQL for large tables and reconciliation queries
• Hands-on AWS (S3, RDS, EC2, CloudWatch, IAM)
• Git-based workflow ownership: branching, PR discipline, reviews
• Ability to read Java and make bounded changes under engineering review
• Proven pattern recognition to find root causes in large discrepancy populations
• Detail-oriented with evidence-based work in high-stakes contexts
• Demonstrated ability to communicate credibly with engineering and executives
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary technical owner for customer implementations from data discovery to go-live and stabilization
• Lead data mapping and interface definition with customer IT and revenue cycle teams
• Design and configure coding logic for complex multi-specialty programs
• Define validation methodology including sampling, discrepancies, and production readiness evidence
• Diagnose accuracy failures across source data, ingestion, mapping, rules, and model behavior
• Build and maintain internal knowledge base: runbooks, configurations, tooling
• Mentor junior Implementation Consultants
• Write SQL, operate in AWS, manage Git configurations, and make bounded Java changes
• Represent Commence in executive discussions on implementation status and risk
• Provide feasibility and level-of-effort input for new customer pursuits
