Job summary

Commence is seeking a Coding Implementation Engineer to deploy a coding platform, map EHR data, and configure medical coding logic for diverse payer rules. The role sits at the intersection of healthcare data engineering and medical coding, requiring collaboration with customers and internal engineers to drive go-live readiness.

You will validate data mappings, run side-by-side checks, and own gap remediation through go-live, while working in AWS and customer-segregated environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years implementing, configuring, or supporting healthcare software at provider orgs, or 3+ years in revenue cycle, HIM, or coding operations.
• Direct exposure to CPT, ICD-10-CM and PCS, modifiers, NCCI edits, and operative notes.
• Proficiency in SQL with joins, aggregations, subqueries, and window functions.
• Hands-on AWS experience (S3, RDS, EC2, CloudWatch, IAM).
• Git version control: branching, PRs, code reviews.
• Ability to read Java and make small changes; not a full-stack role.
• Strong pattern recognition to identify root causes in large datasets.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy to avoid clinical/compliance errors.
• Ability to communicate with engineers and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Map EHR, scheduling, billing data into platform ingestion model.
• Write and validate SQL against extracts and platform databases.
• Configure coding logic for procedure catalog and payer requirements.
• Run side-by-side validation comparing platform output to coder output.
• Drive gap remediation through go-live and stabilization window.
• Work in AWS and customer-segregated environments.
• Maintain mappings and rules in Git and submit changes via reviews.
• Read Java components and perform small, scoped changes.
• Act as day-to-day technical contact between clinical and revenue cycle teams.
• Contribute runbooks and reusable validation tooling.
