Job summary

Electric Power Engineers seeks a Lead GIS Engineer to serve as the senior technical voice for our geospatial data behind energy intelligence software. This hands-on leadership role focuses on architecture, data quality, and raising the technical bar across the GIS team.

The ideal candidate has deep Esri experience, production ETL on utility data, and a track record mentoring engineers while delivering high-leverage work. Remote US or Canada available. Occasional travel up to 10% may be needed.

Qualifications

6+ years of professional GIS engineering experience including lead responsibilities.
Deep hands-on experience with the Esri stack (ArcGIS Pro/Online/Enterprise).
Production ETL experience and data quality governance.
Strong Python skills for spatial automation and tooling.
Mentor and grow engineers while delivering high-impact work.

Responsibilities

Set the technical direction for GIS datasets, ETL workflows, and geospatial services.
Drive automation roadmap with hands-on design and implementation.
Own data quality standards, schema rules, and QA/QC processes.
Manage ArcGIS environments across Online and Enterprise, in coordination with CloudOps.
Maintain hosted GIS infrastructure, pipelines, and batch jobs; mentor teammates.
Lead design discussions, surface risks, and ensure credible delivery commitments.
Collaborate with product teams and clients on data requirements and delivery.
Represent EPE at GIS events and client engagements when appropriate.
