Job summary

Electric Power Engineers (EPE) is seeking a GIS Automation Engineer to scale geospatial data operations by building Python scripts, custom services, and integrations. You will select the right tools across Python, SQL, REST APIs, ArcPy, and ETL platforms to boost team velocity.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned developer with GIS data context experience, capable of delivering production-ready tools and maintaining code quality. Location is remote US or Canada, with occasional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Geography, GIS, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of scripting, automation, or software solutions in GIS/geospatial context.
• Strong Python programming skills with production-ready tools or automation.
• Experience with Esri ArcGIS ecosystem: ArcGIS Pro, ArcPy, REST API, Enterprise Geodatabase, Feature Services.
• Experience with Git, code reviews, and maintainable, well-documented code.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Partner with GIS analysts, software engineers, and project managers to scope automation opportunities and deliver improvements.
• Design, build, and maintain Python tools and scripts for geospatial data processing throughout projects.
• Develop custom geospatial services, attribute rules, and ArcGIS Workflow Manager configurations to enforce data quality.
• Evaluate and recommend new tools to boost productivity and data quality.
• Support data integration and scripting for consulting lines of business as needed.
