Norstella seeks a Senior Forge AI Engineer to design and build agents across the Forge chain, from orchestration to RAG pipelines, while ensuring robust multi-agent coordination and safe MCP server integration.

The role emphasizes memory/state management, evaluation pipelines, and strong emphasis on AI safety in a remote US context. You will work across the full stack in a live platform, shaping next-gen autonomous workflows.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including production-grade AI projects.
• Hands-on with Python and/or TypeScript in production environments.
• Proficient in prompt engineering and managing non-deterministic systems.
• Experience with agentic frameworks and AI safety considerations.
• Experience authoring MCP servers or design tool-use APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design and build agents across the Forge chain: orchestration, tool-use surfaces, MCP server integrations, prompt and RAG pipelines.
• Own multi-agent coordination architecture: trust boundaries, contracts, and recovery across the agent graph.
• Develop and evolve the MCP server layer: tool schema, contracts, versioning, safe extension.
• Design agent memory and state management for multi-step workflows.
• Ensure agent quality with eval harnesses and continuous evaluation pipelines.
• Add observability for token tracing, tool-call logging, and cost attribution per run.
• Build safety primitives: least-privilege tool-use and PI I/PHI handling.
