Job summary
Canonical is hiring an Embedded Linux Field Engineering Manager to lead a regionally focused team of Field engineers in Presales and Professional Services, guiding solution architecture, design and delivery across a global customer base.
This remote, cross-geography role requires deep Linux expertise, people leadership, and the ability to travel internationally for events. Canonical emphasizes open source platforms and a remote‑first culture with periodic in-person sprints.
Qualifications
- Strong embedded Linux experience with Yocto or equivalent.
- Extensive Linux experience (Debian/Ubuntu preferred).
- Experience managing a small team and engaging with customers.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of field engineers across Presales and Professional Services.
- Plan and drive progress toward goals and projects.
- Partner with the leadership team to align on strategy.
- Foster engineering excellence and disciplined processes.
- Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback.
- Represent the team to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
- Provide market feedback to Product and Engineering for Ubuntu’s future.
- Coordinate globally remote work across time zones.
