Job summary

Canonical is seeking a Cloud Field Engineering Manager to lead a distributed team of field engineers. You will guide presales engagements, design private and public cloud solutions, and ensure delivery excellence across multiple workloads.

Based in the United States and working remotely, you will mentor engineers, collaborate with leadership, and drive engineering practices while travelling up to 25% for customer and partner meetings.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cloud computing concepts & technologies (Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph).
• Practical Linux and networking experience.
• Experience in technical presales and customer engagements.
• Excellent English communication, both verbal and written.
• Proven track record of growing and mentoring engineers.
• Ability to lead in a remote, time-zone aligned team.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer and partner engagement.
• Strong academic background from high school and preferably university.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a Field engineering team across Presales and Professional Services.
• Coach and mentor engineers to improve delivery and technical excellence.
• Engage with customers during presales to shape cloud solutions.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders on roadmaps and engineering practices.
• Drive timely delivery and measurable outcomes for projects.
• Represent the team and Canonical to customers and partners.
• Promote best practices in engineering and organizational effectiveness.
• Plan progress against goals and manage project milestones.
• Participate in leadership discussions to align with company strategy.
