Canonical is seeking a Cloud Field Engineering Manager to lead a team of Field Engineers focused on presales and professional services for cloud solutions. The role supports OpenStack, Kubernetes, and related technologies in private and public clouds, with a strong emphasis on technical leadership and customer engagement.

The position is home-based in the United States, with up to 25% travel. You will drive engineering excellence, mentor staff, and collaborate with leadership to shape product

Qualifications

• Strong cloud computing knowledge across public and private clouds.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Proven track record in leading and mentoring engineers.
• Experience in technical presales and customer engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a field engineering team across presales and professional services.
• Solve customer problems and act as a trusted advisor for Canonical technologies.
• Work remotely in a single major time zone.
• Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members.
• Identify and measure team health indicators and implement disciplined engineering processes.
• Represent the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
• Develop and evangelise engineering and organisational practices.
• Plan and manage progress on goals and projects.
• Collaborate with other leaders as part of the leadership team.
