Job summary

SES Constructors LLC is seeking a Lead Estimator to join our civil construction division. The ideal candidate will prepare self-perform heavy civil estimates from plans, specs and scopes of work, and coordinate with field and office teams to ensure accurate bids.

This remote position requires EST or CST availability and may involve travel. We offer medical, dental and vision insurance, HSA/HRA, employer-paid life and disability, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
• Experience estimating federal projects preferred.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contracts, drawings, specs, scopes and schedules.
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with spreadsheets, word processing, CPM scheduling, and estimating software such as Bid2Win (B2W) and HCSS Heavy Bid.

Responsibilities

• Produce self-perform heavy civil cost estimates including crew assemblies and production rates.
• Furnish accurate quantity takeoffs and assess total construction costs.
• Identify, source and analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes for best value.
• Identify risks and develop mitigation and response plans.
• Prepare inquiries to clients regarding drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Collaborate with field and office teams on estimates.
• Meet interim milestones for constructability and productivity reviews.
• Review constructability with project team and propose alternate approaches.
• Obtain and vet subcontractor pricing to ensure comprehensive coverage.
• Provide post-award support and address site conditions differing from contracts.
