Job summary

Edmentum is a remote-first company focused on AI-enabled learning solutions. We seek a Manager, Applied AI Research to lead a team that designs studies proving reliability, validity, and fairness of AI features.

You will partner with product, technology, and policy teams to guide decisions and advance responsible AI in education. The role requires a doctorate in a relevant field and 8+ years in research with 2–3 years of people leadership.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in psychometrics, quantitative psychology, educational measurement, statistics, data science, AI evaluation, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in psychometric analysis, measurement science, AI research, data science, or related domains.
• 2–3 years of experience managing complex research projects and leading individuals or a small team.
• Experience designing or overseeing research and validation for AI-enabled features, automated scoring, or related innovation.
• Knowledge of AERA/NCME/APA Standards and the regulatory context for assessment quality.
• Familiarity with AI policy in education and evidence expectations from customers/states.
• Experience managing university or third-party research partnerships with high ethical standards.
• Ability to translate technical findings into actionable guidance for product/technology/partners.
• Ability to set priorities and manage concurrent projects with evolving responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of researchers producing evidence on reliability, validity, and fairness of Edmentum's AI features.
• Design and oversee research and validation approaches for automated scoring and AI capabilities.
• Represent Edmentum in academic, industry, standards bodies, and policy forums to build external credibility.
• Partner with Product Management, Technology, Learning and Assessment Design, and Efficacy Research to shape questions and timelines.
• Set AI research agenda with senior leadership and convert priorities into actionable plans.
• Hire, coach, and develop researchers to grow with the field.
• Manage university and third-party partnerships and uphold research quality and ethics.
