Job summary

Edmentum is seeking a Manager, Applied AI Research to lead a team producing rigorous evidence on the reliability, validity, and fairness of AI-enabled features in our learning platform. You will design studies and translate findings into decisions that shape product strategy and policy discussions.

You will partner with Product Management, Technology, Learning and Assessment Design, and Efficacy Research to define questions that matter and deliver timely answers, while mentoring researchers.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in psychometrics, quantitative psychology, educational measurement, statistics, data science, AI evaluation, or a related field.
• 8+ years in psychometric analysis, measurement science, AI research, data science, or related domains.
• 2–3 years of experience managing complex research projects and leading a small team.
• Experience designing/overseeing AI feature validation, automated scoring, algorithmic decision support, or adjacent innovation areas.
• Familiarity with the AERA/NCME/APA Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing and related regulatory context.
• Understanding AI policy landscape in education and evidence expectations for customers/states.
• Experience managing university or third-party research partnerships and ensuring quality and ethics.
• External presence via publications/conferences/standards bodies.
• Ability to translate technical findings into actionable guidance for product/tech/commercial partners.
• Ability to set priorities and manage concurrent projects against deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of researchers producing evidence on reliability, validity, and fairness of Edmentum's AI-enabled features.
• Design and oversee research approaches for automated scoring, algorithmic decision support, and emerging AI capabilities.
• Represent Edmentum in academic, industry, standards-body, customer, and policy-facing forums.
• Partner with Product Management, Technology, Learning and Assessment Design, and Efficacy Research to shape the questions that matter and deliver answers on timelines.
• Help set the AI research agenda alongside senior leadership, then translate priorities into a clear plan of work for your team.
• Hire, coach, and develop researchers, and build a team that grows with the field.
• Manage university and third-party research partnerships, and uphold high standards for quality and ethics.
