Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Lead AI Engineer in a remote role to design, build, test, and deploy production AI solutions across government programs. You will own complex algorithms from exploration to production, mentor staff, and drive scalable, reusable AI components in a cloud-enabled environment.

The candidate should have extensive Python expertise, strong data science background, and experience delivering production quality AI/ML systems on AWS/Azure/GCP. US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of professional experience.
• 7+ years in data science and advanced algorithm building with production systems.
• 5+ years designing or building cloud-based solutions.
• 3+ years with AI/ML or related technologies.
• Experience deploying production algorithms beyond notebooks.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues.
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust.
• Deep expertise in Python and at least one systems language (Rust/Go/C/C++).
• Experience building AI models from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, collaborate, and advance AI/ML solutions across the enterprise.
• Own difficult technical problems from exploration to production.
• Write high-quality software and contribute to enterprise capabilities.
• Build AI-enabled applications integrating models with data, cloud services, and APIs.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies through hands-on experimentation.
• Create reusable components and reference implementations.
