Job summary

Affirm is building scalable data infrastructure and a lakehouse platform across OLTP/OLAP systems. You will influence strategy, architect secure data access, and enable self‑serve analytics for engineering, analytics, ML, and BI teams. Strong leadership and cloud data warehouse experience are required.

You will mentor engineers, drive governance, and optimize performance and cost across Snowflake and Iceberg‑based storage, partnering with multiple functions in a remote‑first environment.

Qualifications

• Experience architecting large-scale lakehouse platforms and data infrastructure.
• Hands-on Snowflake RBAC, data masking, cost management, and performance tuning.
• Strong knowledge of Iceberg, Spark, and cloud-native storage concepts.
• Experience with dbt, data modeling, testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams and drive roadmap decisions.
• Proficient in Python/SQL or JVM languages with production-grade systems.

Responsibilities

• Define the long-term technical roadmap for the lakehouse platform.
• Architect and implement secure, discoverable data platforms for multiple teams.
• Strengthen governance, access controls, lineage, and privacy policy enforcement.
• Collaborate with Analytics, ML, BI, and Infra to translate needs into architecture.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of rigorous design and reliability.
• Optimize compute, storage, and cost across Snowflake and lakehouse components.
