Job summary

Affirm is building a scalable Lakehouse Platform with Iceberg, Spark, and Snowflake to support analytics and BI across the company. The role emphasizes governance, access controls, and cost optimization, while collaborating with Analytics Engineering, ML, BI, and Infrastructure teams.

You will mentor engineers, influence roadmaps, and drive operational excellence in a remote-first environment across the US.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering, data infrastructure, or data platform engineering.
• 2+ years in technical leadership and team mentoring.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake or similar data warehouses, access control, and cost management.
• Strong background with Iceberg, Spark, and cloud-native lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with dbt, data modeling, CI/CD, and data quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term Lakehouse Platform roadmap using Iceberg, Spark, Snowflake.
• Architect and implement platform capabilities for secure, discoverable analytics data.
• Design secure data access controls, RBAC, masking, lineage, and privacy policy enforcement.
• Partner with Analytics, ML, BI, and Infra teams to deliver durable data solutions.
• Lead and mentor engineers, raise technical quality, and foster inclusion.
