Job summary

Affirm is seeking a senior data platform engineer to architect and operate a Lakehouse Platform built on Apache Iceberg and Snowflake. You will influence roadmaps, design secure data access, and partner with analytics, ML, BI, and product teams to deliver scalable analytics infrastructure.

The role requires 8+ years in data infrastructure with hands-on Snowflake and Iceberg experience, plus proficiency in Python, SQL, or JVM languages. A remote-first environment is offered across the U.S.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, data infrastructure, or data platform engineering.
• 2+ years of technical leadership responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Iceberg, and cloud-native data lake architectures.
• Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Influence technical strategy and roadmaps for the Lakehouse Platform across Iceberg, Spark, Snowflake, and cloud storage.
• Architect and implement platform capabilities for secure, discoverable analytics data.
• Strengthen governance with RBAC, data masking, lineage, and privacy policy enforcement.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to translate needs into durable platform architecture.
