Job summary

Affirm is seeking a leader for its Lakehouse Platform to architect and scale large‑scale analytical data infrastructure using Apache Iceberg, Spark, Snowflake, and cloud storage. You will guide governance, data modeling, and end‑to‑end data workflows across analytics, ML, and BI teams.

You will mentor engineers, drive depreciation of technical debt, and champion operational excellence in a remote‑first environment with strong collaboration across product and infrastructure teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, data infrastructure, or data platform engineering.
• 2+ years in technical leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long‑term technical roadmap for the Lakehouse Platform across Iceberg, Spark, Snowflake, and cloud storage.
• Architect and implement platform capabilities for secure, discoverable data across engineering, analytics, ML, and BI teams.
• Design and operate secure, auditable data access across Snowflake and lakehouse platform (RBAC, data masking, lineage, privacy).
• Evolve data modeling, pipelines, testing, documentation, and CI/CD with Analytics Engineering.
• Establish lakehouse operations best practices: schema evolution, partitioning, observability, and incident readiness.
• Identify and execute improvements in compute and storage costs, including warehouse tuning and data layout.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Analytics, ML, BI, Product Eng, and SRE to translate needs into durable architecture.
• Stay ahead on lakehouse tech trends and AI-enabled data tooling.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of design rigor and learning.
