Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, data infrastructure, or data platform engineering, with 2+ years of technical leadership responsibilities.
• Hands-on leadership managing teams to build critical data infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake or comparable analytical data warehouses, including access control and cost management.
• Strong experience with Apache Iceberg, Spark, and cloud-native data lake architectures.
• Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks and CI/CD practices.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, or JVM-based languages for production-grade systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term technical roadmap for Affirms Lakehouse Platform across Iceberg, Spark, Snowflake, and cloud storage.
• Architect and implement platform capabilities for secure, discoverable analytics across engineering, analytics, ML, and business teams.
• Design and operate secure data access controls including RBAC, data masking, cataloging, and lineage.
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineering to evolve data modeling and testing frameworks; support data quality practices.
• Establish best practices for lakehouse operations: schema evolution, partitioning, and observability.
• Identify and implement cost-saving performance improvements in compute and storage across platforms.
