Placements24 is seeking a proactive Labour Relations Specialist for a fully remote role in the United States. You will manage employee relations, advise on disciplinary procedures, and oversee collective bargaining to promote a fair and productive work environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in Labour Relations or HR, with knowledge of the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and related legislation, plus strong mediation and negotiation skills.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Labour Relations Specialist to join their organization in a fully remote capacity. This role is pivotal in managing and maintaining positive employee and employer relationships, ensuring compliance with labour laws, and promoting a fair and productive work environment. You will be responsible for advising on disciplinary and grievance procedures, managing collective bargaining, and implementing HR policies related to labour relations. This is an ideal position for a specialist who thrives on problem-solving and relationship building from a distance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and resolve employee grievances and disciplinary issues in accordance with company policy and labour legislation.
• Advise management on best practices for labour relations and compliance with the Labour Relations Act.
• Facilitate and participate in collective bargaining negotiations with trade unions.
• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures related to employee conduct and engagement.
• Conduct investigations into workplace disputes and recommend appropriate actions.
• Promote a positive and constructive workplace culture through effective communication and proactive engagement.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Labour Relations or Human Resources with a strong focus on industrial relations.
• In-depth knowledge of the South African Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and other relevant legislation.
• Proven experience in dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration proceedings.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage sensitive employee relations matters effectively in a remote setting.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Law, or a related field.
