Job summary

ASM Research is seeking a Knowledge Management Specialist (internal Technical Writer) to research, compile, and publish technical data in manuals, articles, job aids, and procedures for a distributed remote team in the United States.

The role emphasizes accuracy, adherence to DoDAF, IEEE, AMA/APA/CSE styles, and collaboration with SMEs to produce clear documentation while ensuring usability and compliance across products and programs.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years in technical writing, documentation, or knowledge management.
• Excellent command of English grammar, style, and editing.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with desktop publishing tools from Adobe and Microsoft.
• Ability to translate requirements into clear, audience-appropriate documentation.
• Ability to work in a fully remote, distributed team environment.
• US citizenship and ability to undergo a federal background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Obtain an in-depth understanding of content, product, and documentation requirements from internal teams and SMEs.
• Analyze content for reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
• Review drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples with designers and developers.
• Use graphics to improve end-user understanding of systems.
• Translate requirements into documentation changes and adhere to standards (CMMI AIMM).
• Proofread for spelling, grammar, and style consistency.
• Determine scope of work and required documentation products.
• Ensure documentation complies with overarching policy requirements.
• Identify end-user needs and produce clear, concise technical documentation.
• Gather usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers.
