Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, seeks a Knowledge Management Specialist (internal Technical Writer) to research and compile technical data for manuals, articles, job aids, templates, procedures, and specifications.

You will ensure accuracy, adhere to standards (DoDAF, IEEE, AMA/APA/CSE), and collaborate with SMEs to translate requirements into clear documentation. This role supports a fully remote, distributed team and requires US citizenship with a federal background check.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 1-2 years of experience in technical writing, documentation, or knowledge management.
• Excellent command of English grammar, style, and editing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
• Experience with desktop publishing tools from Adobe and Microsoft.
• Ability to translate technical requirements into clear, audience-appropriate documentation.
• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, distributed team environment.
• Candidates must be US citizens and will undergo a federal background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Works with internal teams and SMEs to understand content, product, and documentation requirements.
• Analyzes existing content for reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
• Reviews drawings, announcements, specifications, mockups, and product samples with designers and developers.
• Uses graphics to improve user understanding of the system.
• Translates development requirements into documentation changes; adheres to DoDAF/IEEE/AAMA/CSE styles.
• Proofs documentation for spelling, grammar, and style.
• Assesses project scope to determine required documentation products.
• Ensures compliance with policy requirements for documentation.
• Determines end-user needs and ensures documentation meets them.
• Produces clear, concise, comprehensible technical documentation.
• Gathers usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers.
