Job summary

NMS seeks a Remote Cook’s Helper/Spike Room Attendant to assist cooks, prep, stock, and clean in a remote Alaska camp kitchen. You will support serving duties and maintain cleanliness across the dining and storage areas.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 2+ years in a commercial kitchen, Alaska Food Workers Card/ServSafe, and ability to work 12-hour shifts. Pre-employment testing and travel to Anchorage or remote sites are required, with dormitory housing provided.

Qualifications

• Must have or obtain Alaska Food Workers Card and/or ServSafe Certification.
• Two years of work experience in a commercial kitchen or equivalent vocational training.
• Able to stand for 12 hours per shift and work in a remote camp environment.
• Must pass pre-employment testing (drug test, physical and fit for duty, audiogram, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assist cooks, chefs, and others in a food service area.
• Prepare and cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc.
• Clean dishes and maintain sanitation of dining and kitchen areas.
• Stock food service areas and assist with large cleaning projects.
• Set up, break down, and clean serving lines and tables.
• May perform additional duties such as housekeeping or janitorial tasks.
