Job summary

PLOS is seeking a Peer Review Operations Specialist. You will manage timely peer review, enforce deadlines, and enhance contributor experience for authors, editors, and reviewers.

You will coordinate with vendors and colleagues globally to maintain publication quality and process integrity. Reporting to the Peer Review Operations Manager, you will drive continuous quality improvement across workflows, support data-driven decisions, and uphold PLOS's mission and brand in a fast-paced,

Responsibilities

• Submission Management: Ensure timely, efficient peer review of all submissions.
• Submission Management: Address queries from vendors, Customer Care or colleagues within timelines or escalate as needed.
• Submission Management: Identify and remove barriers to submission in collaboration with colleagues.
• Submission Management: Proactively identify workflow inefficiencies and backlogs to diagnose issues.
• Submission Management: Ensure manuscripts meet requirements and current policies.
• Workflows: Troubleshoot persistent manuscript or system issues and provide guidance or escalate.
• Workflows: Propose data-driven improvements to journal operations to the Manager.
• Workflows: Maintain standard workflows and adopt approved process updates.
• Projects: Contribute to workflow projects and initiate proposals; undertake initiatives.
• Projects: Serve as daily liaison with vendor representatives and monitor KPIs.
• Other: Contribute to operational research outputs to optimise journal workflows.
