Job summary

Albert B Sabin Vaccine Institute Inc is seeking an IT Manager to oversee daily IT operations, infrastructure, and security for a fully remote US team. You will coordinate with external vendors, lead strategic IT initiatives, and ensure policy compliance while supporting end-user services and system administration.

The role requires 7+ years in IT operations, cloud experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel domestically for staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive IT operations or systems support experience, preferably in a Life Science or Global Health environment.
• Experience coordinating with external technology vendors.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-based IT infrastructure, collaborative platforms, systems administration, and operational support practices.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and operational risk management, familiarity with NIST 800-171/Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
• Ability to travel domestically for all staff meetings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day IT operations to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve escalated issues.
• Provide high-level oversight for hardware, software and systems applications (e.g., SharePoint, Paylocity HRIS, Smartsheet).
• Support user account administration, permissions, and onboarding/offboarding processes.
• Maintain documentation related to systems, procedures, configurations, and workflows.
• Develop and enforce IT policies, standards, and best practices.
• Support organizational technology initiatives and operational improvement projects.
• Coordinate system upgrades, integrations, and new technology solutions.
• Partner with department leaders to identify operational needs and recommend technology solutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and process improvements to support organizational goals.
• Participate in strategic IT planning and liaise with external IT vendors and service providers.
• Coordinate vendor deliverables, service requests, maintenance schedules, and issue resolution.
• Monitor vendor performance and assist with contracts and SLAs.
• Collaborate with supervisors on technology purchases and renewals.
• Support cybersecurity initiatives, system monitoring, and risk mitigation.
• Assist in maintaining data privacy compliance and policy adherence.
• Coordinate security updates and disaster recovery planning.
