Job summary

ACCEL Schools seeks an Intervention Specialist to support Ohio Distance and Electronic Learning Academy students in a tuition‑free online K‑12 program. You will collaborate with teachers to tailor interventions, conduct assessments, and lead IEP processes in a dynamic virtual setting.

Role requires travel several times a year for in‑person state testing and events; strong communication and organizational skills are essential to support student growth and family engagement.

Qualifications

• Current Ohio Intervention Specialist License.
• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience in a full room inclusion or Co-Teaching in a Resource Room model.
• Comfort with a growth‑focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
• High quality written and verbal communication skills.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
• Ability to pass FBI/BCI background checks.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with classroom teachers, interpreting abilities and disabilities of students, assisting in intervention strategies, and modifying general education curricula.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments and write behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP Meetings and write IEP goals and objectives.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding academic and social‑emotional growth.
• Participate in planning and implementing non‑instructional activities like social events and field trips.
