Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Intervention Specialist for Columbus Arts & Technology Academy in Columbus, Ohio. The role focuses on supporting students with IEPs, providing diagnostic and behavioral assessments, and collaborating with teachers to implement effective intervention strategies.

You will write IEP goals, facilitate meetings, and engage families, while delivering instruction with culturally responsive practices in a growth-oriented coaching environment.

Qualifications

• Current state license.
• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience with full inclusion or Co-Teaching in Resource Room.
• Growth-focused coaching environment with frequent observations & progress monitoring.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word & Outlook).
• Excellent organization and time management.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to pass FBI/BCI background checks.
• Experience in a multi-cultural setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with classroom teachers to interpret abilities and disabilities and support intervention strategies.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments.
• Write and implement behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals & objectives.
• Pursue goals related to student achievement and culture.
• Apply research-based best practices in planning and instruction.
• Incorporate culturally responsive teaching in daily lessons.
• Serve as advisor for a designated group of students.
• Communicate regularly with families about academic and social-emotional growth.
• Plan and participate in non-instructional activities such as events and field trips.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
