Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is seeking an Interim Senior Cost & Inventory Accountant to provide leave coverage for approximately eight months. The role is fully remote and requires 5+ years in cost and inventory accounting, with strong US GAAP knowledge.

You will collaborate with finance and operations to ensure accurate inventory balances, COGS, and related financial reporting. Responsibilities include standard cost reviews, month-end close entries, variance analyses, and supporting system

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of cost and inventory accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, month-end close, and reconciliations.
• Experience in a public company or SOX-controlled environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cost accounting calculations, processes, policies, and supporting documentation.
• Partner with operational and finance teams to ensure accuracy of inventory balances, COGS, and related data.
• Perform periodic standard cost reviews and analyze financial impact of cost changes.
• Reconcile inventory activity across external providers, vendor shipments, and goods in transit; investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and schedules for assigned areas.
• Review financial results, prepare fluctuation analyses, and communicate trends to leadership.
• Analyze product costs, COGS, margins, and profitability to support reporting and decision-making.
• Provide inventory data and insights to support financial planning and cost projections.
• Support inventory management system implementation, including process design, testing, and controls.
• Coordinate inventory-related audit activities and cycle-count processes.
