Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks an Interim Inventory Accounting Manager to strengthen inventory and cost accounting during a growth phase and systems transformation. On-site in the San Francisco East Bay for an estimated 12 months.

You will oversee GAAP inventory accounting, standard costing, close cycles, and cost analysis, partnering with Supply Chain, Operations and FP&A to align financial reporting with inventory movement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in inventory or cost accounting.
• Strong inventory and cost accounting experience in consumer products or manufacturing.
• Advanced ERP experience, Excel, and data-analysis capabilities with GAAP compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee raw materials, WIP, and finished goods accounting under U.S. GAAP.
• Manage inventory valuation, standard costing, and COGS reporting.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory closes.

Interim Inventory Accounting Manager

Our client, a consumer products company, is seeking an Interim Inventory Accounting Manager to strengthen its inventory and cost accounting capabilities during a period of growth and systems transformation.

This role is on-site five days per week in the San Francisco East Bay. This role has an anticipated duration of approximately 12 months.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee accounting for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods inventory in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Manage inventory valuation, standard costing, cost of goods sold reporting, reserves, and related journal entries
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory close activities, including reconciliations and roll-forwards
• Analyze purchase price, production, waste, yield, and obsolescence variances and communicate actionable findings
• Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, and FP&A to align financial reporting with inventory movement and operational activity
• Provide visibility into cost drivers, margin impacts, inventory risks, and opportunities for improvement
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis related to inventory levels and cost structures
• Develop scalable accounting processes, controls, workflows, and reporting practices
• Support ERP transformation activities involving inventory and cost accounting processes
• Prepare audit schedules, respond to information requests, and maintain supporting documentation
• Provide guidance and accountability across inventory accounting activities as needed

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years focused on inventory or cost accounting
• Strong inventory and cost accounting experience within consumer products, manufacturing, or another inventory-intensive environment
• Deep understanding of standard costing, inventory valuation, reserves, cost of goods sold, inventory flows, and related close activities
• Advanced ERP, Excel, and data-analysis capabilities, with experience supporting audits, process improvements, and U.S. GAAP compliance
