Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Registration & Insurance Specialist for a remote role in the Finance Department. You will review patient insurance, determine network status, verify coverage, and manage pre- and post-billing activities, including self-pay balances.

You will coordinate with physicians and clinical staff, notate Epic FYI entries, and explore GAP/SCA options. Strong communication and independent work are essential in a fast-paced environment that impacts patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 3–5 years of insurance experience.
• Hospital information systems experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Notating Epic FYI clearly for end users with concise notes.
• Perform complex registration and insurance reviews for out-of-network exceptions.
• Follow up with payers on GAP exceptions to keep clinical teams informed.
• Coordinate with revenue cycle team for timely follow up on OON patients, educate patients on plans and potential out-of-pocket costs.
• Review 90/10 global period patients for accuracy in FYI notes.
