Job summary

Sonoran Desert Institute seeks an experienced Instructional Designer to craft engaging online courses, collaborate with SMEs, and advance distance education quality. The role emphasizes adult learning theory, accessibility, and robust assessment design within the Canvas LMS environment.

The position is remote and limited to residents of eligible US states, with ESOP and comprehensive benefits. You will contribute to course design, updates, content development, and QA as part of the Curriculum

Qualifications

• Master’s or higher in curriculum and instructional design or related field.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with subject matter experts to design and update online courses; develop objectives and outcomes.
• Develop course shells, syllabi, home pages, modules and LMS activities.
• Source and secure external media with proper citations.
• Apply instructional design principles and accessibility standards; ensure engaging, student-centered content.
• Create assessments, discussions and multimedia elements to measure learning.
• Support QA processes and continuous improvement; stay current on trends in distance education.
