Job summary

Sonoran Desert Institute is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to join our curriculum team. This remote role is limited to certain states and involves creating online courses, course updates, and assessments for distance education in higher education.

You will collaborate with subject matter experts, design engaging materials using Canvas and other authoring tools, ensure accessibility, and support QA processes to deliver high-quality online learning experiences.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of professional experience in instructional design.
• Experience in higher education instructional design preferred.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and accessibility standards.
• Familiarity with LMS and course-authoring software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects to deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with subject matter experts to design and update distance learning courses.
• Develop course shells, syllabi, modules and assessments in Canvas.
• Create engaging multimedia and authentic assessments.
• Ensure accessibility and quality through QA processes.
• Stay current with trends in instructional design for online education.
• Provide troubleshooting support for faculty and students.
