Job summary

AAPC seeks an experienced inpatient/outpatient coder for a fully remote role in the United States. You will review medical records, assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS codes, and ensure coding accuracy while supporting billing and quality processes.

The position requires at least two years of coding experience, AHIMA or AAPC credentials, and proficiency with CPRS/VistA and encoder tools. Remote work with secure access is essential.

Qualifications

• Two years of professional coding experience in inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
• Active AHIMA or AAPC credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P or CPC/CPC-H).
• Proficiency with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS Level II and encoder tools.
• Experience with CPRS and VistA or equivalent EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient and outpatient records to identify reportable diagnoses, procedures, services, and data elements.
• Assign and sequence ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes per guidelines.
• Code inpatient and outpatient services across clinics, radiology, labs, ambulatory surgery, and more.
• Re-review coded encounters during pre-bill processes and after denials with justified corrections.
