Job summary

Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles is seeking a Hospital Inpatient Coder to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes by reviewing documentation and determining the principal diagnosis and sequencing for DRGs. You will work within the CDI team to ensure accurate and complete coding.

Proficiency with MS-DRG/APR-DRG, SDOSH, and health information systems like EPIC CS-Link is expected, along with attention to regulatory guidelines and timely data abstraction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in healthcare coding.
• Must obtain RHIT/RHIA/CPC/CCS certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes after reviewing documentation.
• Identify principal diagnosis, comorbidities, and determine coding sequence for DRGs.
• Maintain knowledge of MS-DRG and APR-DRG systems and SDH/HCC considerations.
• Abstract data into the health system and ensure timely, accurate coding.
• Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) team on complex cases.
