Job summary

University of Missouri Health Care is seeking a Certified Medical Coding Auditor to support inpatient coding audits and education for Health Information Management staff. The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance with coding guidelines, and development of audit plans to improve coding quality.

The candidate will conduct internal and external audits, analyze findings, and provide corrective actions while supporting pre-billing reviews and ongoing staff training within MU Health Care's inpatient

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in health information management or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in coding, audit, or denials coordination.
• Holds RHIA/RHIT/CCS/COC/CIC certification; CPC/CCA holders must obtain RHIA/RHIT/CCS/COC/CIC within 1 year.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, DRGs, and coding guidelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct internal coding audits and coordinate external audits for accuracy.
• Develop audit plans and ensure compliance with guidelines.
• Analyze audit findings and provide corrective action plans.
• Plan and deliver education programs for HIM staff.
• Support pre-billing reviews and proper charge capture.
• Perform department duties as needed.
