Job summary

UW Health is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist for a 100% FTE, day shift role (Mon–Fri, 7am–3pm Central). Remote work option available, with emphasis on inpatient facility coding expertise and appropriate certifications.

The successful candidate will hold a High School Diploma or equivalent with Health Information Technology training or an active coding certification, and have 2+ years of inpatient facility coding experience, preferably in an academic medical center or Level 1 Trauma Center.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and Medical Coding Education. In lieu of a medical coding education, an active coding certification is required.
• Graduate of a Health Information Technology program. Preferred.
• 2 years of progressive inpatient facility coding experience. Required.
• 2 or more years of inpatient facility coding experience in an Academic Medical Center and/or Level 1 Trauma Center. Preferred.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), RHIT or RHIA. Required.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or CIC AND RHIT. Preferred.
