Job summary

TEKsystems seeks a Remote Inpatient Medical Coder to review emergency department records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and modifiers. You will determine facility E/M levels in line with ACEP guidelines and charging methodologies.

This contract role is fully remote, based out of San Antonio, TX, with pay between $25.00 and $30.00 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, 401(k), life insurance, disability, HSA, PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• Review emergency department records to assign ICD-10-CM codes, CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers.
• Ensure correct E/M levels per guidelines and charging methodologies.
• Analyze documentation for complete code assignment and charge capture.
• Apply CMS, NCCI edits, and payer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review ED records to assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers.
• Determine facility E/M levels per client guidelines and ACEP tool.
• Analyze documentation from multiple departments for complete coding.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare/Medicaid and payor policies.
