Job summary

LifeBridge Health is seeking a medical coder to review, code, and abstract inpatient medical records in alignment with ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines. You will assign diagnoses and procedures, then group codes into DRGs to support accurate hospital reimbursement.

Qualified candidates hold an associate degree or higher in health information management or related field, with knowledge of coding principles and the ability to review records precisely.

Qualifications

• Formal working knowledge equivalent to an associate degree in a specialized field.
• Knowledge of medical coding principles, conventions, and guidelines.
• Ability to accurately review medical records and assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.

Responsibilities

• Review, code, and abstract medical records for inpatient services.
• Review medical records to identify physician-documented diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to documented diagnoses and procedures.
• Group assigned codes to determine appropriate Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs), including CMS-DRGs and APR-DRGs.
• Ensure coding and documentation are accurate and compliant with established standards and guidelines.
