Qualifications

• High School Education Required or GED or equivalent; anatomy and physiology coursework completed.
• Minimum 3 years of acute care inpatient and/or IVR coding experience.
• Must maintain 95%+ accuracy in coding and documentation.
• Ability to work in a remote environment and communicate with healthcare team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Codes and abstracts medical records with 95%+ accuracy.
• Assigns ICD-10-CM diagnostic and ICD-10-PCS/CPT-4 HCPCS codes to greatest specificity and DRG/APC when applicable.
• Abstracts demographic data into the EMR.
• Mentors new coders and resolves coding issues promptly.
• Performs other duties and supports coding queue management.
