Job summary

AAPC seeks a remote Medical Coder with inpatient and procedural coding experience to support hospitalist and nephrology coding needs. You will use ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS to assign codes, ensuring documentation impacts reimbursement while complying with AHIMA/Company ethics. Expect ongoing training and independent work from home.

Maintain at least one credential (AAPC or AHIMA) and work within privacy rules to protect PHI while delivering accurate coding services for clients.

Qualifications

• Must maintain at least one credential through AAPC or AHIMA.
• Experience coding for hospitalists and nephrology.
• Experience coding inpatient tests and FS modifiers.
• EMR experience with 3M Encompass or 3M Encoder.
• Ability to work remotely and independently.
• Knowledge of AHIMA Standards and ethics.

Responsibilities

• Provide components of coding services to support clients.
• Calculate ProFee and/or Facility E/M levels using company algorithm.
• Recognize critical care cases by patient acuity.
• Code ER procedures to capture additional revenue when appropriate.
• Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes to the highest specificity.
• Accurately apply ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Interpret coding guidelines for accurate code assignment.
• Identify importance of documentation on code assignment and reimbursement impact.
• Align conduct with AHIMA/Company ethics and compliance program.
• Participate in company training and education.
• Ensure privacy and security of PHI.
