Job summary

Zekai is seeking an Inpatient Coder for a fully remote US-based contractor role. You will apply inpatient ICD-10-CM coding expertise to validate documentation, support AI training, and ensure alignment between notes and codes.

Responsibilities include reviewing EMRs, evaluating AI-generated notes, and writing prompts to test AI handling of billing, coding, and regulatory tasks. Requires CIC/CCS/CPC and at least 10 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Active coding certification (CIC, CCS or CPC).
• Inpatient ICD-10-CM coding experience including DRG, MCC/CC, and POA concepts.
• Experience reviewing and abstracting information from EMRs.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex clinical documentation.
• Available for at least 10 hours per week.
• US-based.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness and coding integrity.
• Evaluate AI-generated clinical notes and summaries against real-world documentation and coding standards.
• Validate alignment between clinical documentation and assigned codes.
• Write prompts that test how an AI handles real healthcare administrative work, including billing and coding, insurance and prior authorization, scheduling, and regulatory compliance.
• Correct the code/data when the model falls short, grounded in day-to-day operational experience.
