Job summary

Zekai is seeking Certified Inpatient Coders for a 100% remote contract role in the United States. You will review inpatient records, ensure accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, and help train AI systems using real-world data to improve model learning, reasoning, and performance.

Applicants should be actively certified (CIC/CCS or AHIMA/AAPC) with inpatient coding experience, access to current coding references, and the ability to commit at least 10 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Active inpatient coding certification (CIC/CCS) or AHIMA/AAPC equivalent.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for inpatients.
• Access to up-to-date coding resources and guidance.
• Currently employed in inpatient coding or related CDI role.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records to ensure correct ICD-10-CM/PCS coding per guidelines.
• Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness and coding integrity.
• Identify principal and secondary diagnoses and POA indicators.
• Validate MS-DRG assignment and flag HACs and patient safety indicators.
• Evaluate AI-generated notes against documentation and coding standards.
• Code AI-generated information from records using ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in diagnoses and procedures.
• Provide written feedback on coding errors to improve model performance.
