Emory Healthcare is seeking an experienced Hospital Inpatient Coder III for a remote role. The coder will apply ICD-9/10 coding to inpatient encounters, work with physicians and CDI staff, and ensure accurate DRG extraction for data warehouses and reporting.

The role requires 5 years of inpatient/outpatient acute care coding, MS-DRGs expertise, proficiency evaluation, and strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology. Remote work is available for eligible US locations.

Competenze

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years inpatient and outpatient coding experience in an acute care environment.
• Must complete coding proficiency evaluation. Extensive knowledge of MS-DRGs, disease processes, clinical pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.

Mansioni

• Assign ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 codes to inpatient encounters with high accuracy based on Official Coding Conventions and AHA Coding Clinic.
• Collaborate with physicians, clinical documentation improvement specialists, quality, and patient finance staff.
• Contribute to billing, research, internal and external reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure DRG accuracy and extract core data into HIM abstracting system and data warehouse.
• Support data for patient acuity, severity of illness, and quality outcomes.
