Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Inpatient Coder (CCS Certified) for a remote position. You will review documentation, assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes, and query physicians to clarify information. The role emphasizes high accuracy and productivity in a remote environment.

Qualifications include CCS/RHIT/RHIA/CPC/CIC credentials, Level 1 Trauma coding, and Epic experience. The role requires 3+ years inpatient coding experience and MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• Active CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, or CIC credential.
• Three years of facility-based inpatient coding experience.
• Level 1 Trauma coding experience.
• Epic experience.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and payer regulations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation to code ICD-10-CM diagnoses and ICD-10-PCS procedures.
• Query physicians to clarify diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign codes using an electronic encoder per policy and guidelines.
• Perform peer reviews of auditors and coders.
• Complete reports as requested.
• Maintain accuracy rate of 98% or higher.
• Meet productivity: 16 encounters/day, 2 encounters/hour, 30 minutes per encounter.
• Work across multiple systems concurrently.
• Coordinate with manager on time off and new procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
