Job summary

AMN Healthcare is seeking a Remote Inpatient Coder to join our Health Information Management team. You will code inpatient accounts in the Meditech Coding Abstract system and assign ICD CM/PCS codes, ensuring timely completion of daily coding tasks in alignment with professional and regulatory guidelines.

POSITION DUTIES

Responsible for the coding of medical information into the Meditech Coding Abstract system and for monitoring completion of daily coding assignments through established HIM best practice processes, and professional and regulatory coding guidelines. Assigns ICD CM/PCS codes to inpatient accounts as directed for respective encounters. Reviews and follow-up (if needed) on associated facility charges, technical fees, and level of service for assigned outpatient encounters Adheres to a 95% coding accuracy rating.

Preferred Qualifications

Must have organizational and statistical reporting skills. Must maintain professionalism and confidentiality of patient health information data. Ability to communicate timely and effectively. Analytical skills/detail oriented. Ability to work independently and in a remote setting. Graduation from an accredited medical coding program. Must pass the initial coding assessment provided by HIM Dept. RHIA, RHIT, or CCS credentials preferred.
