Job summary

Whatnot Inc. in San Francisco is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to own the path between our customers and code. You will tackle edge delivery, DNS, service mesh, TLS, and private connectivity to keep traffic fast, reliable, and secure worldwide.

You will work with Reliability and Platform teams to instrument observability, write controllers and automation, and shape traffic at scale while embracing security and resiliency best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably for high-traffic apps.
• 3+ years with Istio and Envoy; custom Envoy extensions.
• Deep Kubernetes networking knowledge: CNI, ingress, service networking.

Responsibilities

• Own the path between customers and code across the edge, DNS, and service mesh.
• Instrument telemetry and improve observability with Reliability and Platform teams.
• Develop controllers, extensions, and automation for networking layers.
• Shape traffic at the edge and build scalable private connectivity between services.
• Ensure secure, low-latency operations with DNS, TLS, and routing across regions.
